Where I’ve Been: VivirLatino

11

October

vivirlatino130x130.gifThe question of the month has been: “Where the hell are you? And where is my Latino Marketing Report?” Thank you for your patience my friends, and for being so patient, here’s the explanation as to why I have semi dropped off the face of the Earth this month: It’s called VivirLatino.

VivirLatino (VL) is a brand new blog that launches officially TODAY, Día de la Raza (or Día de la Hispanidad or whatever you prefer to call it), bringing all sorts of Latino news and other great content together in one place. We like to think that it will become a prime information source for urban Latinos across the country.

VivirLatino is the brainchild of Blogs Media, a new company specializing in nanopublications, blog services and blog consulting. I am proud to have joined the Blogs Media team, along with my fellow bloggers Maegan Ortiz (better known in the blogosphere as Mamita Mala) and Rebecca Carter (author of Trendy Tendencias) as a VL editor. In that capacity, I branch off a little more to report on politics, culture, and other topics not typically covered on Latin-Know, and with a particular emphasis on media and marketing. Staying within my niche to some extent.

So, yes Latin-Know will be back on a regular schedule…very soon. And I hope you swing by VivirLatino and leave your comments there as well!

Latinos Cite Sony, Colgate, Ford as Best Brands
October 03, 2005

Sony was named “Best Overall” brand among U.S. Hispanics, followed by Colgate, Ford, Chevrolet and Nike, according to a recent survey by Miami-based Encuesta Inc., a market research and opinion polling firm.

The study, Americanos Poll: Favorite Brands Study 2005, compares how U.S. Hispanics and non-Hispanics perceive brands, including which they consider best overall, most trustworthy and best in advertising.

The questions with such phrasing as, “When you think of all brands and names of products and services that you know, which three brands do you consider best overall?” enabled respondents to list brands rather than choose from a list. In addition to the above named brands, other highly recognized ones among Hispanics were Adidas, Gap, AT&T and Gain.
